SunLine: Your Ride to the Future

Background

SunLine continues to evolve services in order to enhance the experience for riders, including streamlining its fixed route network, and introducing both a new regional line and on-demand rideshare (available in seven zones as of January).  As SunLine continues to adjust services while offering cutting-edge zero-emission technology and other clean energy initiatives, a new theme has emerged: SunLine Transit Agency is Your Ride to the Future.

Route 1

Introducing the Route 1WV and Route 1EV

Route 1 has been split into two routes, Route 1WV (West Valley) and Route 1EV (East Valley), to improve the reliability of what was formerly a 30-mile route.

The New Route 1WV (Palm Desert via HWY 111 Palm Springs)

Route 1WV extends through the western part of the Coachella Valley. Route 1WV starts at the Palm Canyon at Stevens timepoint and ends at the Town Center at Hahn timepoint by the Palm Desert Mall.

Note: The route map and accompanying materials will all be marked with a yellow color tone.

The New Route 1EV (Coachella via HWY 111 Palm Desert)

Route 1EV extends through the eastern part of the Coachella Valley. Route 1EV starts at the 5th at Vine timepoint and ends at the Town Center at Hahn timepoint by the Palm Desert Mall.

New Transfer Point Location

The transfer between the Route 1WV and the Route 1EV will occur at Town Center Way/Hahn. All riders who wish to transfer to one of these routes or between the two routes, will board at the Palm Desert Mall side. No transfers for the Route 1WV or Route 1EV will occur on the Whole Foods side.

Frequency Changes to the Route 1

Service will operate every 20 minutes from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. During the off-peak periods which is the time before 7 a.m. and after 5 p.m., service will operate every 30 minutes.

Route 2

Frequency Changes to the Route 2

Service will operate every 20 minutes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. During the off-peak periods which is the time before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m., service will operate every 40 minutes.

Fare Promotion

Between the months of January and May, SunLine will be offering a special fare promotion for certain trips on the 10 Commuter Link. Riders can enjoy regional destinations at a reduced price of $1 per trip for the following highlighted trips:

SunRide

Palm Springs Zone

SunLine’s on-demand rideshare service that is booked using an app will be offered in a total of seven (7) zones starting in January when Palm Springs receives a zone. The new geo-fence will provide connections to the Route 1WV, Route 2 and Route 4.
