New Administration Groundbreaking ceremony February 26,2013
Thousand Palms, CA – March 2, 2013: Mayor Yvonne Parks, Vice Chair of the SunLine Board of Directors welcomed guests to the Ground Breaking ceremony for the new Administration Building on Wednesday, February 26, 2013. General Manager, C. Mikel Oglesby initiated this project shortly after accepting his position at SunLine Transit Agency 9 years ago. SunLine was able to piece together funds from the California Transportation Development Act, California Proposition 1B, and the Federal Transit Administration. The new 25,000 square-foot Administration Building and Transit Hub is expected to be completed by the summer of 2014. This project will bring much-needed jobs to the Coachella Valley. The bid required that the winning bidder perform at least 10 percent of the work. That percentage amounts to a little over $1 million for the Bermuda Dunes based firm Doug Wall Construction. The Coachella Valley is also expected to see $5.7 million of subcontracted work from listed firms throughout the Valley.
John Haag, Construction Manager, Arcadis, Doug Wall, General Contractor, Doug Wall Construction, and Lindsay Thompson, Architect, IBI were featured guest speakers. Also in attendance were Greg Pettis, SunLine Board of Directors and Council Member Cathedral City, Marc Troast, District Director, Assemblyman Brian Nestande, Joseph Pradetto, Legislative Assistant Supervisor John J. Benoit, Jacqueline Lopez, representing Assemblyman Manuel Perez and Steven Hernandez, Mayor Pro Tem, City of Coachella.
