Taxi Voucher Program

The Taxi Voucher Program provides taxi services at a reduced price for those who qualify.
Taxi Vouchers are used as taxicab fare only.

Who qualifies for the Taxi Voucher Program?

• Seniors 60 years or older
• Persons with Disabilities

How do I apply for the Taxi Voucher Program?
Submit the completed Taxi Voucher Program Application in person to our Thousand Palms Administrative Office located at 32-505 Harry Oliver Trail, Thousand Palms, CA, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  You must bring current proof of age or disability.  A photo will be taken. What documents does an individual with disabilities need to qualify for the Taxi Voucher Program?
To qualify for this program applicant must provide current (not expired) government-issued photo identification and one of the following as proof of age or disability:

• Medicare Card
• SunLine ADA Certification Card
• SunLine Half-Fare I.D.
• SSI Award Letter
• SSDI Award Letter
• Veterans Administration Letter for minimum 50% disability
• Physician Verification of Disability Form completed by physician

PLEASE NOTE:  Proof of residency is required; such as driver’s license, utility bill, property tax, lease agreement.

When can I begin to use the Program?
Once you are approved for SunLine’s ADA or Half-Fare I.D., you are immediately eligible to purchase and use the Taxi Vouchers for your next taxicab ride.

How many vouchers can I buy?
Clients can purchase up to $75.00 worth of vouchers each month.

How long are the vouchers good for?
Vouchers expire every year on October 31.

What taxi company will accept my vouchers?
Your Taxi Vouchers are accepted by all three Coachella Valley taxicab franchises; Airport Taxi, American Cab, and Yellow Cab of the Desert.

How do I pay the taxicab Driver?
Show the taxicab driver your SunLine issued  identification and pay with your Taxi Vouchers.

Will I receive change back?
No change will be given back from the voucher payment. Amounts less than the voucher value can be paid in cash.

How do I tip the taxicab driver?
A standard tip is paid in cash. Vouchers can not be used for tips.

Taxi Vouchers by Mail

To get your vouchers by mail, please complete the “Taxi Voucher Program Order Form”.  Mail the completed form along with your payment to the address below. Allow 7 to 10 working days to receive your vouchers. Please do not send cash. Be sure to include your name and return address.
