SunLine Transit Agency Invites Public to ‘Fill the Bus’ for Those in Need

Nov 3, 2017

(Thousand Palms) – SunLine Transit Agency will once again host its 11th Annual Holiday Food Drive, Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.  SunLine will park a bus at three grocery store locations in the Coachella Valley to help two worthwhile organizations service those in need during the holidays.

This year’s event benefits two outstanding community organizations: The Center in Palm Springs and the Narrow Door in Indio.  These organizations are supported by the generosity of Coachella Valley residents.  SunLine invites the community to help fill the bus with non-perishable food items, frozen meats and other assorted trimmings for holiday meals. SunLine also asks residents to donate new packaged toiletries, personal hygiene products, diapers and other household products.

The locations of the buses this year are as follows:

  • Walmart: 34-500 Monterey Avenue, Palm Desert, CA
  • Stater Bros: 78-630 Highway 111, La Quinta (Hwy. 111 & Washington)
  • Ralphs: 1733 East Palm Canyon Drive, Smoke Tree Village Shopping Center, Palm Springs

“For more than a decade, this has been an event that our team puts so much heart and soul into in order to ensure that those in need receive holiday meals and essential supplies,” said Lauren Skiver, CEO/General Manager of SunLine Transit Agency. “Fill the Bus transports relief and happiness through deserving organizations such as The Center and Narrow Door – and allows us to all come together to help our community celebrate the holiday season.”
